Carry the Journey Forward
Countless students discover Yiddishkeit at Chabad on Campus, but what happens when their college years end? As the first Chabad house dedicated to alumni, we will carry the journey forward by providing Shabbat dinners, classes, events, and holiday programs to Jewish graduates of Oberlin College. The alumni community will help graduates integrate the inspiration from Chabad at Oberlin into their lives as young artists and professionals.
About the Campaign
The Chabad of Oberlin Alumni Community is the first Chabad house created as a continuation to Chabad on Campus. We will work with Rabbi Shlomo and Devorah Elkan at Chabad of Oberlin College to build a Jewish community for Oberlin graduates. We are excited to launch a center in New York, while engaging with alumni around the world as well. Our programs will include Shabbat and holiday meals, events and classes, while focusing on each individual, as Chabad of Oberlin is known for.
Many Oberlin students stick together even once they graduate - often sharing apartments or settling in the same neighborhoods. The Chabad Alumni Community will bring Oberlin graduates together for meaningful Jewish experiences, similar to what they received at Chabad of Oberlin College as students.
As natives of Los Angeles and New York City, we are excited to launch this project in our home base, and utilize the creative and artistic opportunities that New York has to offer to bring Yiddishkeit to life for our community.
Your support of this endeavor helps develop a new frontier in Shlichus today.
